FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about buying, processing, placement, and starting an ATM business.

How does buying an ATM machine work if there is no online checkout?

Browse machines and add the ones you want to your quote cart. When you submit the request, a Blueprint ATMs specialist verifies current pricing, shipping, and availability, then sends a final invoice for you to approve before any payment happens.

Are the prices shown on the site real?

Yes. Machine prices come from live distributor pricing checks, not estimates. Applicable tax and any configuration options are confirmed separately before your final invoice; shipping is free on eligible machines and shown on each product page.

What does ATM processing cost with Blueprint?

Processing bills per billable transaction, from $0.25 on the Flex plan down to $0.15 on a 3-year term, with no ordinary monthly, statement, annual, minimum, or setup fees. See the Pricing page for full plan details.

Do I have to buy a new machine to use Blueprint processing?

No. If you already own a compatible ATM, Blueprint can help move its processing without requiring a new machine purchase. See Bring Your Own ATM for details.

How long does switching processors take?

Timing depends on your specific machine and current processor. We confirm compatibility and a realistic timeline before starting the switch — we do not promise a fixed number of days upfront.

Is ATM placement guaranteed for my business?

No. Placement availability depends on your location and current partner capacity. If placement isn’t a fit, buying your own machine is usually the fastest way to get an ATM on-site.

What happens after I submit my location for placement evaluation?

A specialist reviews your location details and follows up to discuss whether a placement option or purchasing your own machine makes more sense for your traffic and business type.

Is ATM ownership guaranteed to make money?

No. Revenue depends on transaction volume and your surcharge amount, neither of which is guaranteed. Use the revenue calculator with your own assumptions rather than relying on example numbers.

How many machines do I need to start?

Most people starting an ATM business begin with a single machine at one location, then add more once they understand the traffic and upkeep involved. There is no required minimum.

Is a machine warranty included?

Warranty terms vary by machine and are listed on each product page when available. Ask a specialist if a specific model’s warranty isn’t listed yet.

How is shipping calculated?

Most complete new ATM machines ship free — look for the Free Shipping note on the product page. If a specific machine or configuration isn’t eligible, the shipping status is shown before you submit your quote request.

How do I pay for a machine, and are there card fees?

ACH bank transfer, Bitcoin, and Zelle have no processing fee. Paying by credit or debit card adds a 3.3% + $0.30 pass-through card-processing fee, since equipment is sold at cost with no margin to absorb it. Payment is due in full before your machine is ordered from the supplier.

Can I get replacement parts for my ATM?

Yes. Blueprint can source ATM replacement parts and accessories — locks, card readers, printers, dispensers, cassettes, and more — even for machines not purchased from us. You don’t need to know the part number; tell us the manufacturer, model, and what’s wrong on the Request an ATM Part page.

Can I cancel my order after I submit it?

Once your payment is received and the machine is ordered from the supplier, the sale is final — machines ship drop-ship and Blueprint cannot recover funds already sent upstream. Review your configuration and quote carefully before payment.

Is my information sold to third parties?

No. Form submissions are used only to respond to your request. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Are Blueprint’s machines new or refurbished?

New. Every machine Blueprint sells is new from the manufacturer, not refurbished or used — condition isn’t something you need to ask about or verify separately.

Is the machine EMV/chip-card compliant?

It depends on the model — some ship EMV-ready, others offer EMV as an available upgrade. Each product page lists the card reader’s EMV status; ask a specialist if a specific model doesn’t have it listed yet.

Can I add a security camera or contactless/NFC reader to my machine?

Yes. Camera and NFC/contactless reader are available as configuration add-ons on eligible machines — choose them when configuring your machine before adding it to your quote.

What internet or connectivity does an ATM need?

A wired Ethernet (CAT5) line or a cellular/wireless data plan compatible with the machine. If your location doesn’t have either readily available, mention it when you talk to a specialist so connectivity can be confirmed before you buy.

Who loads cash into the ATM, and does Blueprint provide it?

You (or whoever operates the machine) are responsible for loading and replenishing cash. Blueprint does not provide vault cash as a service — budget for cash loading as an ongoing operating cost, not a one-time setup expense.

How do I decide what surcharge to charge?

There’s no fixed number that’s right everywhere — surcharge amounts vary by market, location type, and what nearby machines already charge. Use the revenue calculator with your own local assumptions rather than a generic example, and check comparable machines near your location before you set yours.

What happens if my machine loses internet or cellular connectivity?

An ATM can’t authorize transactions without connectivity, so it will be unable to dispense cash until the connection is restored. If connectivity issues happen often at your location, mention it to a specialist — a different connection type may be more reliable there.

What should I look for in a placement agreement before I sign?

The terms that actually matter are your exact revenue split, the contract length and whether it auto-renews, any exclusivity clause, and what it costs to exit early. See our guide on reading a placement or processing contract for the full list of questions to ask.

What documents do I need before I can get ATM processing set up?

Processing underwriting is done on your business entity, so you’ll generally need your EIN confirmation letter along with proof the entity is properly formed and in good standing — Articles of Incorporation/Organization plus a Certificate of Good Standing, or a business license or state tax certificate. See the resource “What You Need Before Your First ATM” for the full list and sequence.
