What You Need Before Your First ATM: Entity, EIN, and Compliance Documents

The business paperwork has to be in order before an ATM processing application can move forward. Here is the sequence and what underwriting typically asks for.

ATM processing underwriting is done on the business entity, not on you personally, so the paperwork has to exist before an application can move forward. The usual sequence is: form the LLC (or other entity) in your state, apply for an EIN directly through the IRS (free, and the confirmation letter it generates is a required document later), then open a business bank account in the entity’s name using that EIN and your formation documents. Skipping or reordering these steps is the most common reason an application stalls before it even reaches compliance review.

Beyond the EIN confirmation letter, processing compliance commonly asks for proof the business itself is properly formed and in good standing — typically your Articles of Incorporation or Articles/Certificate of Organization together with a state Certificate of Good Standing, or in some cases a government-issued business license or state tax certificate instead. Have more than one of these ready ahead of time. A first submission sailing through with no follow-up questions is not guaranteed — a second round of documentation is a normal, unremarkable part of underwriting, not a sign anything is wrong with your application.

Blueprint tells you specifically which documents your application still needs rather than leaving you to guess, and does not quote a final setup timeline until compliance is actually cleared.
